This is something I struggle with. I have high expectations for myself, others, and situations.

It originates from my optimism, however, it is truly a double edged sword. Holding people to certain standards is a must, but there also has to be an understanding that not everyone will meet them...and that's fine.

As long as there is no harmful or detrimental results of not meeting those standards, then lowering expectations can be excused. However, it is a fine line because I do not want to allow someone to not fulfill their ultimate long-term potential just because of a temporary struggle.

We need to set standards and expectations high with the full knowledge that those parameters may not be met, but also with the belief that they will be.

We are in control of determining our own limits and we can help others break through theirs's, if they so choose.
